It is the mission of the Santa Clara Ballet Association to:

  • Stimulate and promote interest in ballet, primarily as an art form, by providing high quality ballet performances at a reasonable cost to the general public
  • Provide performing opportunities to local dancers by helping them develop their talents and to achieve their goals
  • Enhance the quality of life in the South Bay/Silicon Valley community through cultural awareness and diversity

    About the Association

For 35 years, the non-profit Santa Clara Ballet Association (SCBA) has been primarily funded by annual membership donations and yearly gifts from the City of Santa Clara. In addition, friends of the Ballet volunteer their time and effort for backstage work and fundraising projects. It is the collective commitment of the Directors, dancers, volunteers, and individual and corporate members that enable the SCBA to continue its goal of keeping classical ballet alive in the community in spite of very limited funds.

The SCBA actively acknowledges the need for a professional quality ballet company in the Santa Clara Valley as well as the need for opportunities for local dancers seeking careers in ballet.

To realize these goals, the SCBA established the Santa Clara Ballet Company.

    The Performing Company

Starting as a repertory company in 1973, the Santa Clara Ballet Company (SCBC) has since expanded its repertoire with full-length productions such as Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. SCBC has a regular season in the area performing at The Santa Clara Convention Center Theatre, and has also completed professional tour engagements throughout the Western United States, British Columbia, and most recently overseas for a special event in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

    An Evaluation

The SCBA and SCBC provide a vital contribution to the cultural programming in the City of Santa Clara, South Bay Area, and the Silicon Valley.

Due to our efforts, thousands of people in the local community have experienced live, professional level ballet, presented by a local organization, and staged and performed by local artists as well as featured world-class professional guest artists.

Many businesses and organizations recognize the value of the SCBA in their community, and donate funds in an effort to sustain these developments.

Many of the young dancers who performed with SCBC as part of their training have received acceptance and scholarship honors from famous dance institutions throughout the country. Some of our dancers have also realized their ultimate goals by pursuing their careers in ballet with major US companies.

    In Summary

The SCBA has demonstrated great value to the thousands of people who have attended performances for 35 years. In order to continue providing these benefits to the community, additional support is needed. We appeal to you for your support through sponsorship.

As a sponsor, you will receive a membership to the SCBA. For the duration of your membership, your name will be published in each production program as a generous supporter of the local arts.
